Rehabilitation/Daily Lifestyle Training helps to improve imbalances and dysfunctional movement patterns that may be driving improper physical mechanics aka pain or difficultly moving. By altering the improper patterns, we can improve the way the body moves and feels. Improving your body’s physical mechanics help the body with simple daily tasks like walking, running, getting up out of a chair, or playing with children. Athletic endeavors are improved and can be taken to the next level by balancing the body and altering those dysfunctional patterns that limit progression.
Functional Movement Training provides cutting edge activity-based interaction with patients that strives to bridge the gap between rehab and performance by applying contemporary clinical approaches in pain management, restoring human function, and promoting wellness/fitness. This type of therapy approach promotes re-activation of muscles and encourages independent functioning in performance to support and enhance movement in sport, art, and life. Functional Movement offers an alternative from the traditional mindset, which under-emphasizes the role of activity in health, independence, and durability. This approach teaches patients to add specific physical movement or weight training to aid in the development of not only strong bones and a healthy heart, but also to help in recovery from an injury, increase success in a sport, and/or to improve function of a handicap or dysfunction.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue (ASTYM/IASM/Graston) therapy is where instruments are applied topically (on top of the skin) to locate dysfunctional (unhealthy) tissue, then mild to moderate pressure is applied to the underlying soft tissue structures. This type of treatment stimulates tissue turnover, scar tissue resorption, and encourages healthy regeneration of tendons, muscles and other soft tissue structures. It can be highly effective for restoring movement and reducing pain from soft tissue injury/dysfunction.
